First let me tell you that if you don’t follow @butterfliesandpebbles on social media, go do it right now. I will wait.
Ok, now that you’ve done that, here is a quote that really, really struck something deep within me from her Instagram page.
She is useful to this world. Not because she does what she’s told. But because she does what she wants. You are a fool to try to dampen her spirits. We need fire in this world. We need her fire. – S.C. Lourie
Why does this mean so much to me today, right now at this moment? I’ve been watching the Olympics, where WOMEN are doing amazing, history-making things. What if someone had dampened their fire? What if they listened when someone said “you’re crazy, girls don’t do that”? We would be missing out on so much excitement if these phenomenal women had listened to the people who said they couldn’t, they shouldn’t, they wouldn’t.
How incredibly fortunate we are that we are witnessing the wonderful, beautiful, powerful female athlete accomplish things that girls from past generations could only dream of. It brings tears to my eyes to think of all of the barriers being broken by these graceful women who dared greatly, who gave absolutely everything they have to be their very best.
SO, with that being said, how are you stoking YOUR fire? I know there’s something deep inside you that you’re dying to do- it doesn’t have to be physical or athletic, but maybe it is. What is your thing? What is that thing that people have said “oh that won’t work out, everyone already does that so you can’t be successful, that’s just crazy don’t waste your time even trying” until you have almost given up?
THAT THING. Dust it off. Pick it back up. DO NOT doubt yourselves my lovelies. The world needs your fire, your passion. Don’t let anyone dampen that spirit. You don’t have to follow the rules, you don’t have to do as you’re told. You owe it to YOU to do whatever it is that your soul years to do. MAKE. IT. HAPPEN. There is absolutely no reason why you can’t if you get out of your own way and do the work.
Come with me won’t you? The world needs our fire. #thinkpawsitively
